SPUN PILE TYPE & SPECIFICATION

Spun pile is a type of precast concrete pile that uses prestressed concrete to improve its strength. It is produced by a centrifugal process with a range between 20g and 30g to improve the concrete strength comparing to square piles. It is less permeable which works to protect the pile from air and chloride, and not to cause the rust. This type of concrete is suitable for using in special conditions such as river, marine or high chloride soil.

(-) 3 mm to (+) 10 mm

Straightness

Any face of pile shall not deviate by more than 6 mm from a straight edge 3 m long laid on the face.

The centroid of any cross section of the pile shall not deviate by more than 12 mm from the straight line connecting the centroids of the faces of the pile.

Handling

Pile segment should not be lifted off from mould unless it’s achieved the minimum cube strength of 30 N/mm2.

Lifting line marking at 0.2 times of the pile length from the ends of the pile and shall be provided only for pile exceeding 9 m length for the handling purpose.

Spun Pile Strength Test

  • 28 Days Cube Strength as per IS-516
  • Bending Strength of pile as per MS: 1314- Part 2

1. Pile Body strength

2. Pile Joint Strength
