HOW TO CONVERT FROM VOLUME (CFT.) TO MASS (Kg or MT) OF AN AGGREGATE FOR CONSUMPTION REPORTS PURPOSE

• Most of the construction site, Aggregates are received by CFT. (Cubic foot) measurement.
But when the aggregate use for concreting through Concrete Batch Mix Plant then input units or consumption always in Kg. or MT.

Therefore,
We need to conversion between CFT. To KG or MT

Equation
Mass = Volume  x Density

Test
For construction site we assume that Aggregate received in loose and dry conditions.
Now find out the loose bulk density as per IS:2386 Part-3.
Then take at lest average value of 3 samples.

For Example
Loose Bulk Density
(1) 20mm Aggregate= 1500 kg/m3
(2) Sand = 1400 kg/m3

Now we take example of sand for conversion.
Get from the loose bulk density:

1 m3 volume of sand = 1400 kg = 1.4 MT.

Or, 35.315 CFT volume of sand = 1400 kg= 1.4 MT
( 1m3 = 35.315 cft.)

Now
 1 cft. volume of sand=  39.64 kg.
