How can I become a QA QC Civil Engineer?


 

I am sharing my experience that how I became a QAQC Engineer…

After completing my diploma in civil engineering from North Calcutta Polytechnic, I have joined L&T construction as a QAQC Lab Technician and there learned every test by doing self-hand in under guidance of my Quality Head with parallel study of relative Code and specification.

 

After 1 year when I get confidence on monitoring all lab test activity and minimised the test error in front of client, then I take responsibility to preparing test reports for final submission and day by day I became expert and my senior had taught me and given more responsibility.

 Finally, after 3 year I become a QA QC Civil Engineer.

 

BASIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

·        Soil Testing (GSA, LL-PI, FSI, MDD, CBR, FDD by Sand replacement method & NDG).

·        Aggregate Testing (Gradation, AIV, FI-EI, LAAV, Bulk Density, Specific Gravity & Water Absorption).

·        Cement Testing (Fineness, Consistency, Setting Time, Soundness and Compressive Strength).

·        Concrete (Slump Testing, Cube Testing, Flexural Strength Testing, Water Permeability Testing).

·        Concrete Mix Design

·        Dry Lean Concrete (DLC)

·        Pavement Quality Concrete (PQC)

·        Batching Plant Calibration.

·        GSB Mix Design

·        WMM Plant Calibration & WMM Mix Design.

·        Plate Load Test.

·        Pile Load Test.

·        Standard Penetration Test (SPT).

·        Cement Grouting Work.

·        Construction of Reinforced soil wall.

·        DBM, BC and Mastic Work.

·        Mix Design of DBM, BC and Mastic.

·        Basic operation of Concrete Batching Plant.

 

BASIC ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Setting up a QA/QC lab at site as per requirement.

·        Monitoring the QA/QC documents of the entire Pkg. including certificates, calibration, test results etc.

·        Taking approval for Source of Material and Mix Design of Concrete, DLC, PQC, WMM, GSB, DBM, BC, Mastic etc.

·        Cary out inspection and checking for all quality related procedures in the site and ensures activity at the site are as per approved method statement and ITP.

·        Coordinate with the consultant’s representative and Site Engineer for inspection and meeting about quality problems.

·        Ensure the inspection and test programs as per approved ITP.

·        Action and close all customer complaints.
